Information Systems Summer Research Workshop 2025

Jointly organized by NUS, NTU, and SMU.

Overview

The Information Systems Summer Research Workshop 2025 is a flagship academic event co-organized by the Department of Information Systems and Analytics at National University of Singapore (NUS), Information Technology & Operations Management Department at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and School of Computing and Information Systems at Singapore Management University (SMU). Building on the momentum of past years, this tri-university initiative aims to foster cross-institutional collaboration, cultivate academic exchange, and provide a vibrant platform for PhD students, junior researchers, and senior faculty in the field of Information Systems.

Over three intensive days, the workshop will feature keynote talks from globally renowned scholars and dedicated streams for faculty member and student presentations. Attendees will also benefit from valuable networking opportunities, feedback sessions, and evening social events that support community building and future collaboration.

Invited Speakers

Elena Karahanna
Professor Elena Karahanna (University of Georgia; ISR Advisory Senior Editor)

Elena Karahanna is the C. Herman and Mary Virginia Terry Distinguished Chair in Business Administration and University of Georgia Distinguished Research Professor at the Terry College of Business. Her research examines how information systems shape work, communication, and decision-making, with current interests in responsible AI, health IT, and social bots.

Professor Karahanna is a Distinguished Fellow of the INFORMS Information Systems Society as well as a Fellow of the Association for Information Systems (AIS), and a recipient of the AIS LEO Award for lifetime achievement. Her work has received multiple best paper awards, including two from MIS Quarterly, and is widely cited across top journals in IS and Management. She has served as Senior Editor at MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, and Journal of the Association for Information Systems, and has held leadership roles in major conferences including ICIS, ECIS, AMCIS, and MCIS.

Eric Zheng
Professor Eric Zheng (The University of Texas at Dallas; MISQ Senior Editor)

Zhiqiang (Eric) Zheng is the George and Fonsa Brody Distinguished Professor at the Naveen Jindal School of Management, University of Texas at Dallas, where he co-founded the Digital Asset Technology Center and holds joint appointments in Information Systems and Finance. He teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in areas spanning AI, blockchain, fintech, and digital asset technology.

Professor Zheng is a Distinguished Fellow of the INFORMS Information Systems Society and a Senior Editor at MIS Quarterly. His research focuses on the intersection of AI, blockchain, fintech, and digital asset technologies, with a particular emphasis on applications that shape the future of financial systems and digital economies. He has received multiple best paper awards and leads several initiatives at the frontier of information systems innovation.

Indranil Bardhan
Professor Indranil Bardhan (The University of Texas at Austin; ISR Senior Editor)

Indranil Bardhan is Charles and Elizabeth Prothro Regents Chair of Health Care Management in the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. He teaches courses in the MBA program as well as the master and undergraduate programs at McCombs.

Professor Bardhan is a Distinguished Fellow of the INFORMS Information Systems Society. His work focuses on healthcare analytics, digital health innovation, and the economic impact of information technology, and involves close collaboration with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and the University of Texas Dell Medical School.

His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation and the University of Texas Health System and has won seven best paper or runner-up awards. He currently serves as senior editor at Information Systems Research and associate editor at Management Science. He previously served as Senior Editor at MIS Quarterly and co-editor of a special issue on "The Role of Information Systems and Analytics in Chronic Disease Management."

Susanna Ho
Professor Susanna Ho (Australian National University; MISQ Senior Editor)

Susanna Ho is a Professor of Information Systems at the Australian National University. Her research explores judgment and decision making, big data, and data analytics in contexts such as social media, management turnover, and corporate social responsibility.

Professor Ho currently serves as Senior Editor at MIS Quarterly and AIS Transactions on Human-Computer Interaction, and has held editorial roles across several top IS journals and conferences. She maintains a long-standing interest in web personalization and online user behavior, which began with her PhD at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Her work has been published in leading journals including MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, and Journal of the Association for Information Systems, and funded by the Australian Research Council.

Wonseok Oh
Professor Wonseok Oh (Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology; ISR Senior Editor)

Wonseok Oh is the K.C.B. Chair Professor of Information Systems in the College of Business at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). He received his Ph.D. in Information Systems from the Stern School of Business at New York University.

His research interests include the economics of information systems, consumer data analytics, AI business strategy, mobile strategy, digital marketing & digital finance. His research has been published in premier journals, including Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Management Science, Journal of Management Information Systems, and Production and Operations Management.
